Plans set for Constitution Day program

EAST LIVERPOOL – KSU is throwing a celebration commemorating the 221st anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution on Wednesday, September 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Quiet Study Lounge of the Main Building.

Throughout the day, students and faculty can enjoy a Power Point Presentation about the document and free pocket sized copies of it. At 11 a.m. special guest Dan Bing, Columbiana County Commissioner, will read the Preamble and discuss its relevance to our county’s government.

Following Bing’s interesting talk, Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Terry McElroy will lead a discussion of the Bill of Rights and emphasize the 4th Amendment, including the latest information on search and arrest warrants and citizen rights.

Following Trooper McElroy’s important session, everyone can play the interactive game “So you want to be a Million Dollar Citizen” and win prizes for displaying knowledge about the Constitution.

To help show your patriotism, Lynette Rawlings, Director of Justice Studies, encourages everyone to wear red, white, and blue. There will be cookies and snacks available during the celebration. Decorations and a Power Point Presentation will also be at the Mary Patterson Building.
