EAST LIVERPOOL -- Dr. Jack Vazzana held his first imaging exhibit, titled "Metaphors of Desire," at the KSU-EL Mary Patterson Gallery Thursday night. The exhibit containss over 40 works of digital art that Vazzana has shot over the past 30 years. He believes the images portray icons of "visual sociology" that may spark a familiar feeling of want that is influenced through societal influences.
In the exhibit program Vazzana writes, "This show's premise is based on visual sociology and an existential idea. That is to say, we all are in a state of being 'less than' and, because of this, we want to be 'more than' in a myriad of ways. Society will present us with metaphors through visual icons as what to desire in order to be 'more than'. The desire for these icons can give us celebrity if achieved and possible haunt us for life if not."
The exhibit runs through Sept. 28. More images can be seen at jveau@AOL.com.
