On Saturday, Jan. 19th at 2:00 p.m. members of the East Liverpool Technology Council will present a public workshop on open-source (free) software at Coffee Fusion & Tea.
Coffee Fusion is located in the old Ogilvies building in downtown East Liverpool at the corner of Washington and Fifth streets. The presentation will be informal, and everyone who uses computers should find out something useful. The event is free and open to the public.
"Open-source software has grown in popularity by leaps and bounds in the past decades. Originally it was thought of being useful only for computer wizards, that's not the present mindset. More people are taking it up every day. The easy availability and abundance of software had made it possible to provide numerous solutions to problems in diverse fields. The advantage of this is that one can customize and build upon what is already there instead having to start from scratch. Essentially we will tell you what we can do for you, and why it is better than the alternatives that are available.”
