CTC working to provide computers to families

by Robert Connelly
EAST LIVERPOOL—The Computer Tech Club (CTC), established in spring of 2007, is looking for people interested in expanding their knowledge of computers. The group of eight holds meetings twice per month in addition to workshops.

The CTC is currently refurbishing used computers for donation to area families who cannot afford them on their own. The Wellsville and Beaver Local school districts have already generously donated nearly 50 computers to the effort. Of these, six units are done, thanks to the bimonthly workshops.

Although members hoped for a start-up fund, the dysfunction of the Student Government Organization led to a few snags in gaining funds. The CTC instead began conducting fundraisers to raise money for their efforts; the most recent was a candle sale that raised $250 of profit for the club.

For those interested in joining, the next meeting is Nov. 8 at noon in room #317 of the Mary Patterson building. Questions can be directed either to Jamie Walko at
jamiewalko@gmail.com or Alana Criswell at ALeeCriswell@gmail.com .
