EAST LIVERPOOL -- The Ohio Valley Regional Arts Council (OVRAC) held a reception Thursday for painter Kelley "Kam" Hayes in the Mary Patterson Gallery at KSU.
Hayes has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and an Associate in Nursing from KSU, and works as a medical and surgical registered nurse. She is a serious artist who belongs to a Northeast Ohio based organization, Apollonova, a consortium of artists based in Akron.
"Painting is not a hobby. Painting is a passion for me," said Hayes. She says that she paints constantly with all different kinds of media but she does prefer oil. She doesn't confine herself to any particular style. Most of her work is for sale.
OVRAC is showing Hayes's work Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 2 p.m. and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. until Nov. 25. The artist will be on site Nov. 5.
