KSU Students to Square-off in Pigskin Rivalry

By Melody Gustafson
SALEM -- Students at KSU-Salem have been organizing a flag-style football game that will pit teams from Salem and East Liverpool against eachother.

According to Student Government Organization (SGO) member Brad Heckathorn, brothers Adam and Kevin Dopp thought of the idea and contacted the organization.

"It will be good, clean fun that will bring the campuses closer together," Heckathorn said.

Heckathorn explained that it will be a "non-aggressive," organized game with 13 minute quarters and a 10 minute halftime. Although the exact date, time and location have yet to be established, the SGO projects that the soccer field behind the Salem campus will be ideal. Because of its use by a local youth soccer team on Friday evenings, however, the special intercampus game will have to occur earlier in the day.

Any student can join the team, male or female, although Salem SGO has already recruited more then 20 players. To join the East Liverpool team, email the Council of Student Organizations (CoSO) Vice-President, Alex Estell, at destell@kent.edu or 330-708-0354.
