Charity Volunteer has "Drive"

By Brad Heckathorn
SALEM - Sarah Henry wants to spread the word about what she's doing to help people be warm and comfortable during rough spells.

This is the first time she has exercised her efforts at KSU Salem, but it is her third consecutive year running a coat drive. The last two years were with the American Legion Post #442 and the Southern Local Elementary School.

"I decided to do this when I remembered my younger years in grade school. When it got cold outside during playtime, some kids didn't bring a jacket or gloves," Henry said. "I chose this kind of drive because the welfare of the community is important to me."

All of the items from the drive are going to the Community Action Agency in Lisbon, and that facility reaches out to all of Columbiana County.

Henry has been involved with the community for years as an auxilary member of the American Legion Post #442, working to put on dinners and other activities. "I plan on doing this kind of thing as long as I can. This is very important to me and the people who need it."

Donors who are too late to catch Henry's KSU-Salem deadline for this winter can donate directly to the Community Action Agency year-round. For directions and hours, call 330-424-4013.
