EAST LIVERPOOL – The Student Nurses Association (SNA) has decided to roll up their sleeves to help beautify the community. On Dawson Way, near the Crockery City Café, the KSU students will weed and plant bulbs in an unruly and neglected garden Saturday.
The initiative began through discussions with Dr. Roxanne Burns and Dr. F. Anne Freitas, and Mr. Ray Traveline generously donated resources to support the project. Professors Banks and Rateau graciously offered to coordinate and lead the project with the students. SNA President Kathy Bowers and officers Emily (Nikki) Sidney and Tabitha Tanner, are recruiting student workers.
Custodian Bob Allgood requested and received further assistance from local high school students. Participants have donated not only their time, but their own supplies and resources.
The group will return to the site and continue their labor again on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To get involved with the effort, contact Dr. Freitas at ffreitas@kent.edu .
