Tech Meets Flash

by Melody Gustafson
EAST LIVERPOOL – Due to the common problem of a manpower shortage, the Computer Technology Club (CTC) and The Eastern Flash are considering joining forces according to members of both groups.

Jaimie Walko, vice-president of the CTC, noted that in order for the club to prepare its charter for the next school year, it must show that it has at least five members who fill the offices of president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and club liaison. At this time, there are only four.

The Eastern Flash has also had trouble attracting interested writers and photographers to the team, but also plans to expand the online presence to include more movement, color and variety, along with video and sound. After a discussion, both groups agreed that a union is beneficial to all. The final decision is contingent upon a vote of the CTC members.

“It will be great,” said Shawn Golden, faculty advisor of the CTC. “Two clubs struggling to find members come together, and we can learn from each other.” He mentioned perhaps designing an animated cartoon that runs in regular episodes. He is excited about helping The Eastern Flash expand and develop the possibilities of the Web log.

In other CTC news, Walko explained that a few hundred dollars were earned through candle sales and a raffle. Club members hoped to buy computer cleaning tools with some of the money.

One of the major activities of the CTC is refurbishing computers that were donated by local schools for distribution to needy families. They also hope to begin holding workshops for people in the community who want to learn more about the physical structure of their machines and how to work on them.
