Save the best; remove the rest

by Allison Brookes
EAST LIVERPOOL—At a brief meeting at the Thompson House last Thursday, EG&G project manager Rod Garrison spoke with East Liverpool Historical Society President Timothy Brookes. The discussion was part of an ongoing interview process with representatives from all the organizations within the proposed “University District.”

After speaking with Brookes, Garrison said the two discussed the goals of the Historical Society, its yearly budget, and what input the organization might have on the district plan. Garrison noted that as this project continues, he will be in contact with the Historical Society as well as the other organizations included in the proposed plan.

Brookes said that the Historical Society would like to see the dilapidated buildings torn down and more available parking for students at Kent. He characterized the society’s position as, “Save the best, and remove the rest.”
