EL Captain Reflects on Game

By Alex Estell

SALEM -- As the East Liverpool intercampus football team leader I have learned something on our "trial run" about organizing a team, and I have ideas that will change our effectiveness so that we can win!

Our pass game was held to a minimum which forced us to go to our running game, and it was very well controlled by Salem. I know, as well as my teammates, we need to put pressure on the inside while we are on defense. Hindsight is 20/20.

We picked up some good plays for ourselves and found out what works and what doesn't from our arsenal. Our team itself was its own most valuable player and our most intimidating player with our unique play calling. We all felt that we played fairly well.

Our lack of organization as a whole gave Salem a great chance to take advantage of our defense. As our teams leader/captain I feel it was my fault we lost and I promise to my teammates and my East Liverpool classmates I am going to step-up my own game, get myself organized and make the right calls and decisions that will put points on our side of the scoreboard.

See you in two weeks in East Liverpool Thompson Park at 2 p.m.
